It really does take a village to raise not just a child, but a family.
Our story
Baby showers have always been a great way to welcome a new baby into the world, but it never feels like enough once baby has finally arrived. There seems to feel like something else is missing. My oldest son was born in December 2019, just a few months before the world shut down. Despite having received so many gracious gifts at our baby showers, I still felt insufficient and unprepared for this new life in the world with how my body and spirit needed to heal. My own family lives miles away in a different state, which left my husband and I off on our own a lot trying to figure everything out. Just when I felt like I was starting to really feel like myself again, getting into a rhythm, feeling more confident, and ready to live life again as myself, the world shut down and I felt like I was at square one again. My postpartum rebuilding suffered.
I have felt so heavily on my heart that I never wanted anyone to feel the same loneliness and lack of confidence as they transition into family, whether it be the first time or the fifth time a new baby came along. As other friends were having babies later into 2020, I started to envision ways to best support them not just during pregnancy, but also from birth to the remainder of their 4th trimester rebuilding. Praise God, He is the giver of all great ideas!
It Takes a Village Ministries was born.
Learning. Growing. Thriving all the time.
As a ministry, we are still learning and growing so we can thrive with our neighbors and friends all the time. Our goal is to serve mothers and families experiencing financial difficulties as they prepare and transition for babies and little ones. We want to be your village!
We currently offer “pay-what-you-can” support and services. I never want to limit anyone in need of care because of finances. This is a service I believe everyone should have access to. The Bible encourages us repeatedly to care for and serve one another. This is my service to you!
Current services include childbirth education, birth and labor doula support, postpartum doula care, Nesting Parties, and Postpartum BaskNests. I have done my initial doula (birth and postpartum) training through DONA International, and certified in BABE Childbirth Education. Currently working on my certification for Childbirth Education for the Christian Family and birth and postpartum with CECF.
Beloved, if God so loved us, we must also love one another.
